Ram wins a dramatic finals - 7:5, 3:6, 7:6 against Hernych in Val Gardena

The finals at the Sparkasse ATP Challenger Val Gardena Südtirol had to end in a tiebreak in the third set. The winner of the second edition of the Challenger tournament in Ortisei is Rajeev Ram from the USA. The number 172 of the world rankings defeated the Czech Jan Hernych 7:5, 3:6, 7:6 (8:6) in a dramatic finals. The exciting match lasted 2:12 minutes. Ram won 100 world ranking points and 9,200 Euro prize money. Hernych was comforted with 60 points and 5,400 Euro.

Doubles Title in Val Gardena goes to Brown/Zovko

After the unexpected loss in the singles semifinals on Saturday the number one seed Philipp Petzschner also lost the finals of the doubles at the Sparkasse ATP Challenger Val Gardena Südtirol. This afternoon Dustin Brown and Lovro Zovko (Germany/Croatia) defeated the number two seeds Petzschner/Alexander Waske in 80 minutes 6:4, 7:6 (7:4). Petzschner is the number 9 of the current doulbe world rankings. He won the US Open with Jürgen Melzer this year as well as Wimbledon in 2010.
